Technology Talent Admission Scheme (TechTAS)
Under TechTAS, eligible companies can fast-track the admission of non-local technology professionals to undertake research and development (R&D) work in Hong Kong. These companies must apply for and receive a quota from the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), after which they can sponsor eligible candidates for employment visas / entry permits within the 24-month quota validity period.
Applicants# who qualify for TechTAS must, among others,:
- Be employed as a full-time employee by a company with a valid quota at the time of application
- Be engaged principally in conducting R&D in 5G communications, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cyber security, data analytics, digital entertainment, financial technologies, green technology, integrated circuit design, Internet-of-Things, material science, microelectronics or robotics
- Hold a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics from a well-recognised university
- Have a remuneration package commensurate with the prevailing market rate
- Meet the particulars pertaining to the job position set out in the ITC's quota allotment letter
The TechTAS offers some enhancement measures:
- Relaxing the pattern of limit of stay from “2+3+3” years to “3+3+2” years
# This Scheme is not applicable to nationals of Afghanistan, Cuba, Laos, Korea (Democratic People's Republic of), Nepal and Vietnam.
